Last summer, one of our favorite swim styles, the tankini, had a major moment in the sun. 

As the buzz started picking up about it we realized that for some people, this classic style was brand new to them. It’s been a staple here at Beach2Ocean for years, and we couldn’t be more excited to finally give it the spotlight it deserves.

So, what is a tankini?

A tankini is a two piece swimsuit that combines a tank style top, like a tank top, with bikini bottoms. The combo offers women more coverage than a traditional bikini while keeping the convenience and flexibility of a two piece swimsuit. The name itself is a hybrid of tank (again, like tank top) and bikini - it’s genius!

Before this style came to the market in the late 90’s, women were forced to choose between a traditional one piece or a bikini, the middle ground was nowhere to be found. The tankini changed everything by blending the comfort and modesty of a one piece with the practicality and freedom of a two piece.
